Retro Tactical Custom Rifle Case

May 31, 2011

Not too long ago I felt the need to replace my old rifle case with a new one. My old case was bigger than it needed to be so I opted for a smaller and simplerĀ  solution. I looked around for a rifle case in multicam but all of the options I found were either too large or too expensive. I just needed a case to hold a rifle, I didn’t want all these extraneous pockets to hold extra stuff, I have a separate bag for all of that stuff anyways. Plus keeping it simple kept the cost down to under a 100 bucks.

Retro Tactical is a small custom manufacturer that creates products for those old “Retro” guns that seem to lack any modern gear. While that is Retro Tactical’s specialty that doesn’t mean every product they produce is for older guns. Retro Tactical does produce products for uncommon modern guns as well as custom jobs. Previously I had asked Retro Tactical to make a simple bag for me and the ordering process was incredibly simple, I stated what I wanted and I had a drawing of the design. So it made sense to go back to Retro Tactical once again for another project.

I had a few requirements for my rifle case. I needed it to be small and compact(26×10), I also wanted a clam shell style opening with a zipper. I also wanted it in multicam with multicam webbing handles with a loop field on the front of the case for patches and name tapes. The case is constructed from 1000D cordura and multicam webbing with a cordura lining inside the bag. The case is padded with a layer of neoprene and LDPE.The zipper is a YKK #10 zipper. Everything is double stitched, the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding. All this for under 100 bucks shipped. Of course any additional features will raise the cost of the case. Definitely give Retro Tactical a look for any custom gear needs. They are always open to new ideas.
