A while back I was searching the market for a pouch that could hold a pair of glasses. This pouch was one of the few on the market that actually looked useful. This pouch is made by S.O Tech, a company who is famous for it’s go bags. This pouch is part of their BLOCS line which is their modular pouch line that is MOLLE and PALS compatible. This pouch serves two purposes, a admin pouch and a eye pro case. The front of the pouch looks like your typical admin pouch with a field of loop on the front for patches and other forms of identification.
Just like several admin pouches on the market this pouch has a ID window that closes with velcro. The ID windows can be used to hold maps, paperwork, or forms of identification. I just use it to keep some patches that I am not using. The ID windows are made from a thick sheet of clear plastic and all the edges are seam taped and double stitched.
Opening up the pouch opens the main compartment of the pouch. There are a couple of slots made from elastic the can be used to hold pens, lights and other stuff. There are also 2 pockets that are flat and will hold papers and not much else. The two pockets also keep pieces of cut plastic inside to keep the pouch rigid.
This insert is removable, this is what the front of your glasses sit on, its covered in felt so it doesn’t scratch up your glasses. It also is rigid to help keep the pouch rigid to protect your glasses. Since the insert is secured by velcro you can just remove it if you are not keeping glasses inside the pouch.
The pouch has a wedge shape to it, it helps to keep your glasses from moving around in the pouch, it also gives the pouch a lower profile towards the top so you don’t have issues with your chin hitting the pouch when you look down if you have this pouch mounted right in the center of your chest.
The pouch attaches with S.O Tech’s flex tab system which is a very secure attachment system, the only downside with this system is that it can be a hassle to attach and remove the pouch. This pouch takes up 4 rows and 3 columns of PALS.
As with all S.O Tech products this pouch is high quality and made in the USA, everything is double stitched and edges are seam taped. S.O Tech uses Cordura on all their builds, so this pouch is good to go. This pouch also comes with a pair of Paladin basic shooting glasses. This pouch comes in Black, Coyote Brown, Olive Drab,Ranger Green,ACU and Multicam. They retail for $35 in standard colors and $41 for Multicam.
